avast! provides a package of applications that aim to protect your computer from a possible virus infection or other malware threat.

Real-time shields. The real-time shields are the most important part of the program, as they are working continuously to prevent your computer from becoming infected. They monitor all your computer's activity, checking all programs and files in real-time - i.e. at the moment a program is started or whenever a file is opened or closed.
Virus Chest. The virus chest can be thought of as a folder on your hard disk with special properties, that make it a safe, isolated place for storing potentially harmful files. You can work with the files in the virus chest, with some security restrictions.
Avast_5.0.507-Patch_v1 stops the countdown of the avast 30 days trial license
so that the trial license never expires.
Avast_5.0.507-Patch_v1 is for:
- avast! Internet Security 5.0.507 (32-64 bit)
- avast! Antivirus Pro 5.0.507 (32-64 bit)

Installation notes:

1. Install avast! 5.0.507 in trial mode, and do not reboot!

2. Run the patch, and follow the instructions.* (See the *Note below.)

3. The directory to select for patching ashBase.dll:
Default install path is -> C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast5

4. After patching reboot the computer.

5. Run avast, and download a trial license.

6. Update ONLY the engine and virus definitions. Do NOT update the program.
To disable Update Program: Settings-> Updates-> PROGRAM: Select "Manual update".

*Note in case the patch fails::

1. Run avast, and at Settings-> Troubleshooting disable avast! self-defense module.
2. Exit avast! UI (Stop AvastUI.exe and AvastSvc.exe through Windows Task Manager).
3. Run the patch and follow the instructions.

If avast! self-defense module can't be disabled before rebooting then reboot,
disable avast! self-defense module, run the patch and follow the instructions.

Important notes:

- Update ONLY the engine and virus definitions. Do NOT update the program.
To disable Update Program: Settings-> Updates-> PROGRAM: Select "Manual update".

- It's recommended to disable/uncheck "Participate in the avast! community".
(Such info is used to add crack signatures etc to the virus database.)
